There’s regular healthy weighted companion cube… and then there’s the one which has been incinerated seven million times over because of how many test patients have gone through the system.

Truth be told, these were originally the same companion cubes as the healthy ones, but the paint batch was slightly different and these came out darker, spawning the idea for incinerated cubes.

As a result, the note had to be a little bit different here…

So I renamed it “The Precious” after Golum’s obsession with the ring. It – like that ring – is the only one.

Regardless, these three Wii boxes are modeled off of the Nintendo Wii, complete with drawn on ports, buttons, and even the same crimped corner.

Oh yes, I draw to please. Just don’t expect to be playing Wii Fit on this thing any time soon.

This box is the current edition of the Mario box. Instead of painting the bricks and pixelated question mark on, I’ve hand drawn them on with black pen.

And you’re probably not a real gamer.

These boxes were originally set to be the main box type this year, but upon creation I was unhappy with most of them – especially the original “ring” and “invincibility” boxes, so I canned most of the idea. The “speed” and “extra life” boxes are all that remains as these were the good ones.

Who can forget when the left paddle and the right paddle were dueling for paddle supremacy? And what about when that square pixel block ball thingy almost got out?

I think I eventually had so much tape on here at one point that it was becoming impossible to paint over because of the type of plastic sticky tape is and how paint would just fall off. Eventually, I had to coat around two or three layers of blue paint just to make this work.

Suggestion for next time (if there is a next time): use an adhesive that lacks the gloss & shine that regular tape has. Perhaps masking tape or a better way of doing the whole box thing.

You need to find a rectangular box, cut edges, fold, cut more, fold some more, use a lot of tape, paint, and then hopefully not die from all of that shredded cardboard you’ve just managed to breathe in.

There’s probably a better way of doing it too… I just did it this way because I’m not too brilliant with craft and this is the only way I knew of without spending lots & lots of money.

My boxcutter got a work-out with these series. Hell, I ended up buying a new heavier-duty one for these boxes.

You literally do the exact same procedure – taping two boxes of the same length back to back – and then trim the box top.

Paint in the primary colour and then paint the squares on top in a lighter shade of that primary colour.

This box fits chocolate bars nicely as seen by the surprise I put in this one.
